Discipleship

Be One, Build Many

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17

Not often, but every once in a while, God brings us to a major turning point— a great crossroads in our life. From that point we either go toward a more and more slow, lazy, and useless Christian life, or we become more and more on fire, giving our utmost for His highest— our best for His glory.

Oswald Chambers, "My Utmost for His Highest"

Who is a disciple?

•Someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus.
(Discipleship.org)
•A disciple is an apprentice of Jesus who is with Jesus, becomes like Jesus, and does what Jesus did.
(John Mark Comer, "Practice the Way" )
•A disciple is a follower of Jesus who Loves God, Loves People and Makes Disciples.
(Zume Training)

How did Jesus make disciples?

Jesus' discipleship model is very simple and can be summarized in a short sentence: more time on less people.

What we are missing?

In today's church, we spend almost 90% of our resource on the big circle - Sunday service
Perhaps less than 10% on the medium circle - fellowship, life group etc.
Almost nothing on the small circle - a group of three or four, life on life discipleship

What's Trailhead D-Group Model?

Learning from the best practitioners in the American church, Trailhead's D-group model resembles what Jesus did: spend more time with less people. It aims to create deeply connected relationship with high accountability for growth in Christ. It is a band of brothers with the end in mind," to be fruitful and multiply".
